Carmine Magazine: What drives you to create? Also, what inspires you and your work?
Star St. Germain: I’m constantly inspired by the world around me and the talented, amazing people in it.
Almost all the art I make is a direct response to another person I’ve interacted with.
I also consider myself lucky to be surrounded by a group of smart, creative, and technical friends who continually push me to do more.

CM: Were you formally trained in art or self taught? Do you think it has
helped you or hindered you?
SSG: I went to Massachusetts College of Art, where I was in the Studio for Interrelated Media.
To say it was helpful would be an understatement, this department made me what I am.
Throughout my life, I’ve worked in many different forms of media.
The whole time, someone was always saying I should choose something to concentrate on, or at least narrow my choices.
Studying interrelated media made me realize that I’m allowed to express myself however I see fit, so I do.
I am not limited by the medium, so I’m better able to concentrate on message.
