Carmine Magazine: What drives you to create? Also, what inspires you and your work?
Nubby Twiglet: I’m naturally driven and focused and I want to be successful! Also, I think it’s partly a Virgo trait to be as productive and organized as possible.
My work is more inspired by graphic design than fine art and I keep tabs on tons of design blogs through Google Reader for inspiration. Also, I subscribe to at least five fashion magazines at any one time (much of my artwork has fashion-derived imagery and typography).
Inspirations: Vintage Swiss poster design, the symbolism of the red cross, shoes and typography.

CM: Were you formally trained in art or self taught? Do you think it has helped you or hindered you?
NT: I took every art class offered in high school twice and some basic drawing classes in college. Then I realized that I hate rules when it comes to my artwork. It’s about freedom and my personal vision, not what someone else tells me is right and wrong!
