Hello! My name is Davel F. Hamue and this is my digital media tutorial for Carmine Magazine. I was asked to give a basic overview of how I create my work in order to help anyone who is having a bit of trouble with the subject. Let’s begin shall we?

Step 1:
The first and essentially the most important step is to have a solid idea of what you’re going to do. The best way to do this is to work on a few sketches and pick the idea that works best for you. Once you have that idea, it’s time to sit down and draw it.

Carmine Magazine: What’s your favorite piece you’ve ever done? (Please provide a picture)
Davel F. Hamue: That’s always such a hard question to answer because I always fall in love with the last thing I worked on. Even after its done I’ll still harp on it. But I honestly have to say its this piece I entered into an album art contest in the beginning of December. It’s currently untitled but I have a few names for it in mind. I went a little crazy while making it. I scrutinized every little detail. It was quite the interesting process.

CM:If you could merge any two artist’s styles into your own which would you choose?
DFH: Ashley Wood and Dave McKean. If their styles came together it would just give people nightmares, which is what I’m all about.
