We’re starting a new section here at CarmineMag, Featured Artist. The concept is simple once a week or so there will be a post showcasing the artwork of a fantastic artist I stumble upon, one I have known of for a while, or just one I feel compelled to share with all of you. Feel free to recommend artists to be featured here at any time, I’m always looking for new artists to fawn over.

Our first Featured Artist is Elizabeth McGrath. I had not heard of her before today when I stumbled upon an ad for her IguapopGallery show in Barcelona, Spain (October 23 – November 23, 2008 Ad below) via the blog The World’s Best Ever. I fell in love with her work and I knew I had to start this Featured Artist business sooner than I had planned.

Elizabeth’s work is a mixture of bubble-gum whimsy and the macabre visions that haunt children’s minds when they attempt to sleep in shadowy rooms. Her work may be macabre and feature taxidermy-like animal sculptures, but each piece is endearing and fairly adorable.
